Conveyors & Conveying Solutions

Materials Handling Solutions can design and supply a wide range of conveyors and conveying systems to suit your specific requirements.

How to choose

1. Item Size
Measure the dimensions (length x width) and weight of the largest and smallest items to be carried on the conveyor. To ensure there are three rollers under the item at all times for stability, the item length should be more 160mm. If less please see the information on Specials.

2. Frame width and length
Choose the frame width closest to the item. Items can overhang the conveyor by a small amount but for safety reasons overhang should be minimal. Plan the number of frame sections (straight and/or curved) based on the distance the items are to be moved.

3. Roller type
The weight of the items to be carried determiners the type of roller. PVC rollers (25kg capacity) have a plastic bearing and are liable to be damaged if loads are dropped onto them. Steel rollers (100kg capacity) have a steel swaged bearing. Calculate the number of rollers (19 per curve/1500mm straight section) required.

4. Stand type
If the conveyor is to be permanently located, then RHS stands should be chosen, and only one stand per join will be necessary. If the conveyoris likely to be moved, then the flexibility of pipe stands should be considered, and each frame should have two stands.

Frames

  • Special lengths
  • Special widhts (when ordering quote inside frame width)
  • Personnel gates
  • Merges and junctions
  • Galvanised or stainless steel
  • End fixing by hook & bar

Note: We specify butting plates as standard because they are quick and simple to assemble in temporary locations (using pipe stands) but can be fixed for stable, rigid and permanent applications. They offer flexibility where hook and bar do not. However, if extending an existing system, a hook and bar may be required.

Stands

  • Special widths
  • Fitted with castor

Note: Standard frames have mounting plates on the leg ends that can be easily bolted to the floor. However, if frames are to be moved, it is better to fit casors. Any M or D bolt hole castor from the Fallshaw range can be fitted, but we recommend the DBQ125G/DZHTB as the best general purpose castor. This lifts the frame height by 160mm. If the frame height must be less than 760mm, special stands are required.

Skate Wheels

  • Plastic light duty wheels (10kg/wheel)
  • Steel medium duty wheels (25kg/wheel)
  • single and staggered wheel tracks

Note: Plastic skate wheels are not suitable for use with pallets.

Rollers

  • Extra heavy duty rollers (200kg/roller)
  • Stainless steel bearings in plastic rollers
  • Zinc plated or stainless steel shafts
  • Galvanised roller tubes
  • Percision bearings
  • Special roller diameters
